John McCleary

ΚI received my Ph.D. from Temple University in algebraic topology under the direction of James Stasheff. In algebraic topology my interest is in homotopy theory and its applications to manifold theory and geometry. I also have interests in the history of mathematics, particularly the history of geometry and of topology. I have published papers on elementary number theory and mathematical physics. My vita can be seen here.

ΚSome recent papers include:

I am the author of: I am the coeditor with David Rowe of: I am the editor of the Proceedings of the Conference:
Spring semester 2003-2004, I am teaching Math 228, Methods of Applied Mathematics, and Math 231, Topics in Geometry.

Fall semester 2003-2004, I taught Math 131, Numbers, Shape, Chance, and Change, Math 125, Topics in the Calculus, and Math 367, Advanced Modern Algebra.

Visit the Colloquium Page for information on talks. I also participate in the Greater Hudson Valley Mathematics Speaker Bureau, a program of lecturers on undergraduate mathematics from in and around the Hudson Valley. Visit the web page for more details.

For photos from my recent trip to Japan, check out my travelogue.

I am also a participant in a program at Christ Church in Poughkeepsie called One Word, Many Voices. As part of the program I gave the sermon on December 19, 1999 at the Church. If you would like to read my sermon, it can be found here.

Finally, I sing (tenor) with the Christ Church choir who recently sung a new a cappella piece that I wrote called "Who will give me wings?". You can hear a performance of it by the Christ Church choir.
