I travelled to Japan this summer, June 7--14, 2001. The main
purpose of the trip was to participate in the ceremonies to
commemorate the seventh anniversary of my mother's death.
Here is her grave (and her mother's grave):
Here is a picture of the other family members at the cemetary:
After the ceremony with the Buddhist monk on June 10, the family
got together for a lunch. Here are Saori and her son Hideki (one
year old):
Here are my aunt Koko, and uncles Hitoshi and Hiroshi:
The next day we (my uncle Hiroshi and three aunts,
Koko, Hiroko, and Yumi) went touring up the Japanese
coast between Nagoya and Tokyo. Cousin Chiaki and her
daughter Yuina are in the picture too:
We visited the Hotel Kanawa
and the seaside town of Atami.
Here is a picture of my three aunts at Shinjuku station in
Tokyo. They were seeing me off from Narita airport.
